4 Day Cobra Vacation
My wife and I recently took a four day trip in the Cobra. My wife planned the trip and kept the destination a secret. She printed a picture of the hotel/pool and cut it into about 8 jagged puzzle pieces and gave me one a day until we left (hint for the hubbies out there that need to surprise their wife). When I got the last piece, I still didn't know where the resort was, but it sure looked nice.
The first
order of business, was to get all this into the trunk.

Fortunately,
I enlarged the trunk a bit when I built it, so we had no problem.

We set
off on to our destination of a nice resort in Coronado (peninsula in San Diego).
We had dinner at the Hotel Del Coronado that evening outside in fantastic
weather. The next morning had breakfast in town, and really had trouble keeping
an eye on the car with the people blocking my view.

The
weather forecast said there was only a chance of rain further to the north, but
we all know how accurate they are.

Unfortunately,
I didn't RainX my window before the trip, so we headed back the short distance
to the hotel until the rain cleared, then headed back out to the San Diego Zoo.
I parked in front of some construction fencing, taking up two spaces. When we
returned to the car, we found the fencing had blown over during the day from the
wind, and left a 4" scratch on my fender. Guess I'll have to make a return
trip to see Batman (I need to make sure my tetanus shots are current first). The
next day we walked along the beach in the morning, and relaxed by the pool in
the afternoon. Wednesday we packed up again, and drove back over the bridge and
up to La Jolla Cove for lunch.

La Jolla
(that's La Hoya for you gringos) cove is a popular spot for California seals to
beach themselves and catch some rays. The seals recently had pups, so we got to
see some babies learning to swim and flop around on the sand. We headed north
and had dinner with the in-laws in Orange county before making the trip the rest
of the way home. Except for the scratched fender, we had a great time and the
roadster was a great vacation car (as long as we don't have to pack for more
than 4 days!)
